John T. "Pokey" Shubeck, 51, of Lansford, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, in the St. Luke's Hospital, Miners Campus, Coaldale.
He was a construction worker for many contractors throughout the area and also worked as an asbestos abatement specialist for Sargent Enterprises, Inc., Jim Thorpe.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of Margaret (Wargo) Shubeck of Lansford and the late Edward "Finky" Shubeck.
He was a member of the former St. Ann's Catholic Church, Lansford.
John was a 1984 graduate of Panther Valley High School.
He was a member of the Lansford Italian Club and was a former Lansford Little League and Panther Valley Knee High Football coach for many years.
He was also an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Panther Valley wrestling fan.
Surviving in addition to his mother are a son, John T. Jr. of Palmerton; two brothers Michael J., and his wife, Jacki, and Edward M., and his wife, Elizabeth, both of Summit Hill; a sister Michele, wife of Carl Schaeffer Jr. of New Ringgold; his companion, Tammy Mertz of Palmerton; two stepsons, Lucas and Paul Mika; an aunt, Barbara Dever of Laurel, MD; an uncle, Robert Shubeck, and his wife, Gloria, of Nesquehoning; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Service: Funeral service 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, Sverchek-Blazosky Funeral Home, 340 E. Bertsch St. Lansford, with the Rev. Allen Hoffa officiating. Interment, St. Michael's Cemetery, Summit Hill.
