Robert John Slivka, 65, of Bangor and formerly of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 01, 2018 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus. He was the husband of Kathy (Welch) Slivka of Lower Mount Bethel, PA. They celebrated their 37th Wedding Anniversary on May 16th of this year. Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late John and Martha (Lukish) Slivka. He was employed as an electrical engineer for many companies until retiring. He was a graduate of Panther Valley High School and then furthered his education and graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was an avid golfer and loved animals. He was of the Orthodox Faith. Robert was a faithful lifetime alumnus of Penn State and also cheered for the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and Flyers.
Surviving along with his wife are daughters Courtney and Jessica both of Bangor; sisters JoAnn wife of W. “Skip” Cox of Nesquehoning, Martha Jean wife of Gene Yanick of Bethlehem, Bette Ann Slivka of Harrisburg, and Donna Webster of Binghamton, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, December 05, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, with Rev. Robert J. Teklinski officiating. Interment will be held in St. John Russian Cemetery, Nesquehoning. Call Wednesday morning 9:30-11:00 A.M. in the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in his name to the Humane Society c/o the funeral home. The Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
