Beatrice Canzoneri

Beatrice Canzoneri, 96, formerly of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest Monday, July 16, 2018 surrounded by her son and daughter-in-law in their home in Lewisberry, PA. She was the wife of the late Anthony C. Canzoneri who passed away March 16, 1991. Born in the New Columbus section of Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (Coville) Pilla. She was a graduate of Nesquehoning High School, Class of 1940. She was employed in the Garment Industry for her entire career working as a sewing machine operator. Beatrice loved to sew for family and friends, making clothing and custom made drapes. She was an avid baker, making many delicious treats. Her specialty was Italian cookies and pastries, which delighted her family and friends. She also took great pride in maintaining her beautiful house where she loved to garden. She is a member of St. Theresa Parish, New Cumberland, PA and a former member of Our Lady Mt. Carmel Church, Nesquehoning where she was a member of the Women’s Solidarity. She was also a volunteer with the church and participated in the many festivals run by the church where she devoted many hours to the preparation of various foods and the manning of the food stands. She especially loved to participate in the annual “Shower of Roses” Celebration.   

Surviving is a son Anthony A. and his wife Cynthia (Smith) of Lewisberry, PA; grandsons Matthew A. and his wife Jessica of Etters, PA and David B. and his wife Michelle of Mechanicsburg, PA; great grand grandchildren Nolan, Carley, and Anastasia; sister Antonett Barros of Philadelphia; sister-in-law Felicia Pilla of Nesquehoning; and many nieces and nephews.  

She was also preceded in death by a sister Magdeline Pilla and a brother Thomas.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 11:30 A.M. in the Shrine of St. Therese at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 15 E. Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning with the Rev. Allen Hoffa officiating. Interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Nesquehoning. Call Thursday 10-11:00 A.M. in the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, PA 18240. Donation will be accepted in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
