Eleanore Margaret Slivka
1939-2023
Eleanore Margaret (Mikulski) Slivka, 83, wife, mother, grandmother, seamstress, of Lake Hauto, entered into eternal rest February 16, 2023 in Greenwood Nursing Home, Hometown.
She was the wife of the late Michael “Sherlock” Slivka with whom she was married for 39 years until his passing on March 25, 2001.
Born on August 8, 1939, in the Andrewsville part of Lansford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Margaret (Gurka) Mikulski.
She was employed as a seamstress for Kiddie Kloes in Lansford after graduating from Summit Hill School in 1957. She later retired from Kai Jay Pants Company in Nesquehoning in 2002.
Born and raised in the Catholic Faith, she was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill.
She enjoyed sewing, reading books, cooking, and baking but was especially dedicated to spending time with her beloved family and her cat, Chip.
Surviving are daughters Michele A. Thornsbury and her husband Mike of Charlette, NC and Cheryl A. Mercier and her husband Larry of Nesquehoning; sons Gregory M. and his wife Mary Ann of Nesquehoning and Jeffery M. and his wife Tammy of Fort Washington, PA; seven grandchildren Gregory Slivka Jr., Nichole Hoffman and her husband Mitchell, Benjamin, Devon, Michael, and Julia Slivka, and Autumn Mercier; and a sister-in-law Clara Mikulski of Weatherly.
She was also preceded in death by a brother Edward Mikulski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 20, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. in the Shrine of St. Therese at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 15 E. Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning with Rev. Robert George officiating. Interment will be held in St. John Orthodox Cemetery, Nesquehoning. Call Sunday 4-6:00 P.M. and Monday 9-9:30 A.M. in the funeral home. Donations will be accepted in her name to St. Joseph Parish of the P.V., 118 N. Market St., Summit Hill, PA 18250. The Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E.
