Francis X. Maurer
1955 - 2022
Francis Xavier Maurer Jr., 66, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 31, 2022 in the St. Luke’s Hospital, Miners Campus. He was the husband of Nancy (Sotak) Maurer. They celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on July 28 of last year. Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Francis X. Sr. and Helen (Zajac) Maurer. He was employed as a plant manager for the former Kovatch Corporation in Nesquehoning until their closure. He was a United States Army Veteran. He was a graduate of Marian High School Class of 1973 and a graduate of Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. He was a member of the Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008, the Nesquehoning Sokol Club, and the Summit Hill American Legion Post 316. He was a Little League and Babe Ruth baseball coach for many years. Frank enjoyed cooking on the grill and loved his dogs. He also enjoyed music and playing in several rock bands.
Surviving along with his wife are a son Francis X. III and his wife Christine (Richmond) of Pottstown; daughters Angela Evans and her companion Justin Malaska of Tamaqua and Chelsea Evans and her companion Danny Hottenstein of Lansford; a sister Mary Ann Halenar and her husband Robert “Gimper” Bevich of Summit Hill; a brother John and his wife Nina of Nesquehoning; a grandson Mason Veillette; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister Cheryl Garrett.
