Gloria Marie Shubeck
Gloria Marie Shubeck, 83, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest April 27, 2021 in her residence. She was the wife of Robert L. Shubeck. They celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary last year. Born in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lucia (Panebianco) Cerchiaro. She was employed as an executive secretary for Barton and Phillips Law Office, a secretary for Bethlehem Steel, a manager for WYNS Radio Station, and most importantly was a homemaker. She was a graduate of Nesquehoning High School, Class of 1956. She furthered her education at Bloomsburg State College and then graduated from Bethlehem Business School. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill and was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Nesquehoning. She was an avid Home Shopping Club Member and was a #1 fan of Days of Our Lives. She was a founding member of the Nesquehoning Woman’s Club. She was a past president of the New Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, and cooking from her thousands of recipes she had acquired. Gloria loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she spoiled greatly.
Surviving along with her husband are a daughter Lisa Shubeck of Nesquehoning: sons Frank A. and his wife Wendy and Robert J. both of Nesquehoning; a sister Lucille Gambardella and her husband Robert of Lewes, DE; grandchildren Ashley Nixon and her husband Jeffrey, Jaden, Frank Jr., and Liam; great grandchildren Madilyn, Oliver, and Bennett Nixon; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister Loretta Cerchiaro-Valentin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 30, 2021 at 10:30 A.M. in the Shrine of St. Therese Catholic Church, 15 E. Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning, with Rev. Allen Hoffa officiating. Interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Nesquehoning. Call Thursday 6-8 P.M and Friday 9:30-10:00 A.M. in the Joseph S. Blazosky F.H., Nesquehoning. A virtual funeral mass will be live streamed on the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home Inc. Facebook page. All those attending the viewing and services are required to wear a mask and follow all CDC regulations. The Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
