Helen T. Bliss, 90, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in her residence. She was the wife of the late Roderick T. Bliss Jr. who passed away July 12, 1978. Born in Mauch Chunk Twp., she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (York) Maurer. She was employed as a seamstress and floor lady for the former Monitor’s Factory and the former Kay Jay Pants Company for 25 years until retiring in 1987. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hazelton. She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies Fan. Helen loved bus trips to Atlantic City and loved rubbing off lottery tickets, but she especially loved spending time with her family.
Surviving are daughters Sara and her husband Robert Hagopian of Phoenixville, PA, Miriam and her husband Kenneth Hoffer of Nesquehoning, and Avril “Abbie” and her husband Joseph Guardiani with whom she resided; a son Roderick III and his wife Billi Jo of Bangor, PA; sisters Joan Knapp of Florida and Rosemary Puksar of Nesquehoning; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter Gwen who passed away in 1999, sisters Mary Delaversano, Anna Albeck, and Regina Maurer, and brothers John, Frank, James, and Thomas “Buck”.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 26, 2018 in the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 240 S. Poplar St., Hazleton, PA with Father Brian Clarke officiating. Interment will be held in Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua. Call Sunday 6-8 P.M. and Monday 8-9A.M. in the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, PA.
