Jack Wesley Sharbaugh, 77, of the White Bear section of Summit Hill, passed away on Jan. 6, 2026, in the St. Luke's Hospital, surrounded by family. He was the husband of Betsy (Hodek) Sharbaugh. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past Aug. 7.

Born in Berwick, Jack was the son of the late Wesner and Emma Sharbaugh of Nescopeck.

He was a 1966 graduate of Nescopeck High School and a 1970 graduate of Bloomsburg University, where he majored in psychology.

While serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, Jack was a medic in the Valley Forge Military Hospital. He was later a part of the 7th Medical Brigade in Germany.

He was employed for 35 years with the PA Department of Public Welfare, last serving as executive director for Lehigh County.

Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman and had countless hobbies, including wood carving, stained glass creation, locksmithing and target shooting. He was a college football and lifelong Penn State fan. Jack loved animals and cherished his time with cats Dooie and Ty. He also enjoyed many trips to Southwest Florida and Nevada.

In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by a son Nathan of Summit Hill; a daughter, Natalie (David) of Punta Gorda, FL; a brother, Barry (Marcia) of Berwick; brother-in-law, Dale Baer of Berwick; sister-in-law, Eleanor Kistler of Nesquehoning; a nephew and nieces, Brad, Maryalice, Angela and Kody; and many beloved cousins.

He was predeceased by a sister, Dawn Baer of Berwick.

Service: A private ceremony will be held by the family. The Sverchek-Blazosky Funeral Home, Lansford, is in charge of the arrangements.
