Joseph J. Ondrus Sr.

1944 - 2026

Joseph John “Daddy-O” Ondrus, 81, of Lansford, was called to eternal life on April 25, 2026.

Born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Gabriel and Angela (Selic) Ondrus.

He attended St. Michael’s Grade School and was a graduate of Lansford High School, Class of 1962.  He went on to graduate from McCann School of Business.  He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for over 30 years.

He was a member of the former Saint Michael the Archangel Parish and the former St. Katharine Drexel Parish.  He was also a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokol and First Catholic Slovak Union.

He was active in the community during his life as a coach with the Lansford Little League, a member of the Panther Valley Dart League for over 50 years, a member of the Lansford Borough Council, and member of the Italian Mutual Beneficial Society of Lansford.

He was also a lifetime fan of the New York Yankees, Notre Dame, and the New York Giants.

He leaves behind his wife Marie, with whom he celebrated 49 years of marriage in April.  In addition, he leaves behind his three children; son Christopher and his wife Janelle, daughter Janine of Willow Grove, and son Joseph II of Lansford. 

He will also be missed dearly by his beloved grandson, Ayden Joseph, whom he loved and adored.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua.  Contributions may be made in his memory to the Anthracite Little League, c/o the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E.
