1930 - 2023
Josephine G. (Damiano) Oliveria, 92, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest Sunday, October 29, 2023 in Maple Shade Meadows, Nesquehoning. She was the wife of the late Samuel A. “Sud” Oliveria who passed away August 01, 1989. Born in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Virginia (Bruni) Damiano. She was employed as a seamstress for 40 years in numerous garment factories in Nesquehoning and Lansford. She was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Nesquehoning and currently a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill. Josie loved spending time with her family and all children. She knew every word to every nursery rhyme and had all the residents at Maple Shade singing them.
Surviving are a son Samuel A. and his wife Esther of Whitehall; brothers Baptist Damiano (Rose) of Ocean View, DE and Anthony Damiano of Nesquehoning; a sister Virginia Mele of Nesquehoning; grandchildren Teresa Oliveria and Nicole Wenhold (David); great grandchildren Paige and Evan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by sisters Michelina Eremus and Philomena Gogal and a brother Joseph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 02, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. in the Shrine of St. Therese of Lisieux, 15 E. Garibaldi Ave. Nesquehoning. Interment will be held at a later date in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Nesquehoning. Call Wednesday night 6-8:00 P.M. in the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home and Thursday morning 9-10:00 A.M. in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shrine of St. Therese of Lisieux, 118 N. Market St., Summit Hill, PA 18240.
