1940 - 2025

Marie Theresa Hine, 84, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest Saturday, August 2, 2025 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus with her family by her side. She was the wife of Larry Hine. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on March 25th of this year. Born in Fort Monmouth, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Andrew F. and Grace Marie (Miller) Eremus. She was a graduate of Nesquehoning High School Class of 1958. She was employed by various factories throughout the area including working as a sewist for the former Berkeley Bag Factory, Jim Thorpe. She was also employed on the assembly line for the former Atlas Powder Company, Tamaqua, where she met her husband, Larry. In her later years, Marie was also a cleaning lady for several families in Nesquehoning. She was a devoted catholic, attending mass daily and saying the rosary. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley. Family was most important to Marie and she enjoyed spending time with them. She cherished trips to NYC with her daughter and attending mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. She also enjoyed family Sunday dinners while cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles. 

Surviving along with her husband are a daughter Mary Mehalshick of Nesquehoning; a son Martin Hine and his wife Tiffany of Allentown; a brother Andrew Eremus and his wife Debbie of Hometown; grandchildren Brandon, Michael, and Brett; and a great grandson, Flynn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 18, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Shrine of St. Therese of Lisiex, 15 East Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning, PA with Rev. Eric J. Gruber officiating. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Nesquehoning. Call Monday morning 10-11:00 A.M. in the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to the Shrine of St. Therse or St. Jude Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Joseph S.
