Marie A. O’Donnell R.N., 94, of Summit Hill, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, October 19, 2022 in her residence. She was the wife of the late William P. O’Donnell who passed away March 18, 1974. Born in Summit Hill, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Marie (McLean) Evans. She was employed as a supervisor and R.N. for the former Coaldale State Hospital for 22 years. She was also the owner/operator of the former Dew Drop Inn, Summit Hill for 23 years. She was a graduate of Summit Hill High School and then furthered her education and graduated from the former Chestnut Hill Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley. She was also a member of the Summit Hill American Legion. She enjoyed playing Bingo and trips to the Casino but most of all loved spending precious time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Surviving are daughters Marie Evans and her husband Tom of New Ringgold, Maggie Pribila of Summit Hill, Patricia “Billie” O’Gurek of Summit Hill, Hannah “Bobbie” Breiner and her husband Rev. Walter of Summit Hill, and Nancy Filer of Coaldale; a son Joe “Fuzzy” and his wife Michele of Lake Hauto; grandchildren Shannon Evans (Jen), Marie Schock (Clint), Nathan Evans (Jeanmarie), Donna Delaney (Tim), Wally Breiner (Mandy), Bobby O’Gurek, Justin O’Gurek, Trish O’Gurek, Ryan O’Gurek, Eric Filer (Gina), Craig Filer (Amanda), and Rachelle Filer; 18 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a great grandson Alex T. Delaney, sisters Mary Hannah Kowaleski and Elvira Baroletti, brothers Thomas, Edward, Fred, Daniel “Buster”, and Bobby Evans, a nephew Thomas “Bootsie” Evans, and sons-in-law Robert “Babooch” Pribila, Robert “Gurt” O’Gurek, and James Filer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley Church, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, PA with Rev. Robert George officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bloomingdale. Call in St. Joseph Church Wednesday 5:30-7:30 P.M. and Thursday morning 9:45- 10:45 A.M.  In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in her name to St. Joseph Church, 118 N.
