Matilda "Tillie" Labosky
1927 - 2023
Matilda “Tillie” Labosky, 96, of Lansford, entered into eternal rest Sunday, April 9, 2023 in St. Luke’s Miners Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coaldale. She was the wife of the late Peter Labosky who passed away January 8, 1987. Born in Lansford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Pekarik) Kosalko. She was a member of the former St. Michael’s Slovak Roman Catholic Church and the former St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, and a current member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill. She was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Jednota Association. Tillie was employed as a trimmer for the former Kiddie Kloes Company in Lansford until retiring. For many years, she was an active member of the Lansford Golden Agers and enjoyed many national and international trips with her friends in that organization. She was also a member of the former St. Michael’s Holy Name Society and Funeral Choir for many years, as well as an avid volunteer for organizations such as the MMMC Geriatric Center, Coaldale, and pinching pierogis with her friends at St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Lansford. Tillie also enjoyed swimming at the Lanford pool, crossword puzzles, and rooting for the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots.
Surviving are a grandson Lee Labosky and his wife Rachel of Gettysburg; a granddaughter Rachel Chlebowski and her husband Daniel of Bethlehem; a great-granddaughter Alexis Chlebowski; a sister Margaret Bashago and her husband Peter of Lansford; and many nieces and nephews.
Tillie was preceded in death by two sons David in 1982 and James in 2010; sisters Rose Horowski, Dorothy Pogwist, and Mary Underwood; and brothers Thomas, Paul, and Joseph Kosalko and John Vargas.
A Funeral Service will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Parish of the P.V., 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, PA with Rev. Christopher Zelonis officiating. Interment will be held in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown. Call Friday morning 9-9:45 A.M. in the Church. Donations will be accepted in her name to St. Luke's Miners Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, 360 W. Ruddle St., 5th Floor, Coaldale, PA 18218.
