Michael P. Lukac, 76, of Lansford, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his family, Thursday, December 01, 2022 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus. He was the husband of Susan (Matta) Lukac. They celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary on October 11th of this year. Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Michael J. and Pauline (Pavlik) Lukac. He was employed as a teacher for 30 years, first at the Weatherly School District and then at the Panther Valley School District until retiring. He was also employed as an Athletic Director for 11 years at the Panther Valley School District where he started the cross country program in 1972. He was a graduate of Lansford High School Class of 1964. He then furthered his education and graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1968 and a Masters Degree in American History in 1972. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley and a member of the former St. Michael Catholic Church, Lansford. He was also a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols. He was a PIAA Football Official for 43 years and had the opportunity to officiate two state football games in 1989 and 1999. He was a high school baseball coach for the Weatherly School District and won the Hughie McGeehan League Southern Division in 1969. He was inducted to the Carbon County Hall of Fame Class of 2022. Mike was a member of the P.V. Running and Fitness Club and a member and past vice president of Lansford Alumni Association. He received a citation for voting 50 straight years. Mike enjoyed watching the New York Yankees and Denver Broncos where he held season tickets, but most of all loved traveling with his wife to visit and spend precious time with their children.  

Surviving along with his wife Susan are daughters Suzanne Lukac wife of Michael Shea of Springfield, PA and Rebecca Lukac and her wife Linzy Casal of Seattle, Washington; a son Michael Lukac and his wife Susan (Barnum) of Upper Dublin, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 05, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Parish of P.V. Church, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, Pa with Rev. Robert George officiating. Interment will be held in St. Michaels Cemetery, Summit Hill. Call Monday morning from 9:30 A.M to 11:00 A.M. in the church.
