Michael Vitek
1959 - 2023
Michael Vitek, 63, of Stroudsburg, entered into eternal rest Sunday, May 28, 2023 in the St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem. Born in Coaldale, he grew up in Lansford and was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Mihalko) Vitek. He was employed by DES-Community Partners in Recycling, Inc. until his retirement. Michael attended the Pennsylvania School of Deaf in Philadelphia. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hiking and gardening.
Surviving are sisters Mary Hunsberger and her husband Joseph of Mountain Top and Martha Vitek of Lehighton; a brother-in-law David Marks of Lansford; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.
He was also preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Marks and Elizabeth Rowlands and a nephew Thomas Novak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 5, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Parish of the P.V. Church, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, PA 18250 with Rev. Robert George officiating. Interment will be held in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Summit Hill. Donations will be accepted in his name to the Pennsylvania School of the Deaf, 100 W. School House Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19144.
