Peter J. Bashago, 91, of Lansford, entered into eternal rest Monday, September 18, 2023 in St. Lukes Hospital, Miners Campus. He was the husband of Margaret (Kosalko) Bashago. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on June 29th of this year. Born on April 9, 1932 in Tuscarora, he was a son of the late Peter and Katharine (Holota) Bashago. He was a graduate of Tamaqua Area High School. He was employed as a truck driver for the borough of Lansford until his retirement. He was a life member of the former St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Lansford and a current member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill. A guitarist, he was the last member of the 50’s Band, “The Mello-Dee Lads” who played on WLSH every Saturday morning. He had a unique sense of humor. Pete enjoyed being in the outdoors, cutting grass, traveling and helping his wife Marge create their colorful gardens.

Surviving along with his wife Margaret are a son Thomas and his wife Myrna of Wichita Falls, TX; a daughter Diane LeGrande and her husband John of Crystal River, FL; 3 grandsons Richard and Christopher Bashago of TX and Jay LeGrande and his wife Kelsey of Kansas; great grandchildren Jack and Molly LeGrande; a brother Robert and his wife Anna Mae of Tuscarora; many nieces and nephews; good friends; and neighbors.

He was also preceded in death by sisters Helen DeCindo and Mae Yacobowsky and brothers John and Joseph.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, September 25, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. in the Sverchek-Blazosky Funeral Home, 340 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, Pa with Rev. Robert George officiating. Interment will be held in Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua. Call Monday morning 9-10:00 A.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in his name to St. Joseph Parish of P.V. Church Memorial Fund, 118 N. Market St., Summit Hill, PA 18250.
