Robert J. O'Gurek Sr.

Robert J. "Gurt" O'Gurek Sr., 63, of Summit Hill, entered into eternal rest Monday, Feb. 12, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, surrounded by his loving family. 
He was the husband of Patricia "Billie" (O'Donnell) O'Gurek. They celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on May 26 of last year. 
Born in Coaldale, he was a son of the late Joseph E. and Elizabeth G. (Micolucci) O'Gurek. 
He was employed as a tunnel guard for the Pennsylvania Turnpike at the Lehigh Tunnel on the Northeast Extension for 9.5 years. 
He was a 1972 graduate of Marian High School. 
He was a member of St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley. He was also a member of the Diligence Fire Company No. 1 of Summit Hill and the Summit Hill Sons of the American Legion. 
He was a coach for the Summit Hill Softball Association, the Summit Hill Little League, and Our Lady of the Valley CYO Basketball. 
Gurt loved going on cruises, going on the yearly trip to Disney and attending Notre Dame football games, but most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandson Michael Robert. 
Surviving, along with his wife, are a daughter, Trish O'Gurek, and three sons, Robert Jr., Justin and Ryan O'Gurek, all of Summit Hill; grandson Michael Robert Bieski; sisters Louise Maxwell, and her husband Michael, of Summit Hill, and Grace Bellomo, and her husband Pat, of Warwick, N.Y.; brothers Joseph Jr., William and his wife Siobhan, and David and his wife Patti, all of Summit Hill; mother-in-
law Marie Evans O'Donnell of Summit Hill; sister-in-law Diane O'Gurek of West Penn Township; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-
nephews. 
He was also preceded in death by a brother John "Toot" O'Gurek, who passed away Feb. 28, 2013, and an infant brother Gerald.
Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Parish of the Panther Valley, 462 W. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, with Father Allen Hoffa officiating. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bloomingdale. Call Friday 5-8 p.m. and Saturday 10-11 a.m. in the church.
