1924-2023

Rose C. Alongi, 98, of Allentown, PA, entered into eternal rest Friday, April 21, 2023 in her residence.  She was the wife of the late Anthony G. Alongi who passed away January 31, 1981.  Born in Nesquehoning, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Frances (Lamanchia) Collura.  She was employed by Spectrum as a housemother caring for mentally challenged children for 20 years in New Columbus.  She also worked in the family floral business and in the cafeteria at the Panther Valley Elementary School. She was a member of the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Nesquehoning and a current member of St. Ann’s Church in Emmaus.  She was a member of the Nesquehoning Class of 1942 and also attended McCann School of Business.  Rose enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and especially loved watching EWTN.

Surviving are a son Richard and his wife Linda (Spangenberg) with whom she resided; a grand pup Lila Rose; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by brothers Sylvestor and his wife Julie and Michael and his wife Lena; and a sister Mary Greco.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in The Shrine of St. Therese of Lisieux, 15 E. Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning with Rev. Robert George officiating.  Interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Nesquehoning.  Call Wednesday morning 9:30-10:45 in the Shrine.  Donations in her name will be accepted to St. Luke’s Hospice, 2455 Black River Road, Pennsylvania, PA 18015.  The Joseph S.
