Scott H. Murphy, 42, of Lake Hauto, entered into eternal rest Thursday, August 14, 2025 surrounded by his loving family in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He was the husband of Wendy (Marek) Murphy. They celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on October 9th of last year. Born in Coaldale, he was the son James Murphy and the late Linda (Evans) Murphy and the step son of Linda (Ealer) Murphy. He was a graduate of Tamaqua High School Class of 2001 and then graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in recreation and park management and business and marketing.  He was employed as an insurance broker for Spotts Insurance Group and was previously employed as a golf professional and a member of the management team at the Schuylkill County Country Club. He was a member of Tamaqua Primitive Methodist Church. He was an assistant basketball coach for North Schuylkill for 5 years, an assistant basketball coach for Marian High School for 6 years, and currently was the head basketball coach at Marian Catholic High School for the past 3 years. Scott greatly enjoyed coaching and teaching young men about life with basketball but cherished the time he and his son Mason had together while he coached him in Tamaqua Little League and Tamaqua Youth Basketball. They loved watching sports together, drawing up basketball plays, and watching game films together.  He also enjoyed spending time on his boat and being with friends at the lake. 

Surviving along with his wife and father are a son Mason Murphy of Lake Hauto; a brother James Murphy and his wife Johanna (Zarnosky) of Annandale, VA; mother and father-in-law Michael and Christine Marek of Lake Hauto; niece Makenna,  nephew Evan; and stepsisters Jessica Krcmar and Andrea McGuire and their families .

He was also preceded in death by his mother, maternal grandparents Hayden and Eleanor (Edmonds) Evans, and paternal grandparents Thomas and Agnes Murphy.

A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, PA 18240 with Pastor Rick Clemson officiating. Interment will be held in Sky View Memorial Park Hometown. Call Tuesday night 6-9:00 P.M. and Wednesday morning 9:30-10:30 A.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for Mason’s College Fund or a scholarship fund given in Scott’s name c/o the funeral home.  The Joseph S.
