William J. Moran III
1943-2021
William J. “Bill” Moran III passed away on May 24 at his home in Jim Thorpe. Born in Hazleton, Bill was a graduate of St. Gabriel’s High School and attended the University of Scranton. He served in the Naval Reserve. In the early 1980’s, Bill achieved his dream of owning a fine dining restaurant when he renovated and restored the restaurant space in the current Inn at Jim Thorpe opening Moran’s Restaurant and Bar, which became a popular destination spot in the region. He also worked in retail management before retirement. Bill was well known and loved throughout the area as a true Irish storyteller, gracious host and skilled chef. His St. Patrick’s Day parties were legendary. He will be missed.
Bill was preceeded in death by his father, William J. Moran Jr., his mother, the former Ann Marie Logudic, and his “Mom”, Josephine Zogby Moran. He is survived by his wife, Regina Evanko Moran, his sons Bill and Tom Moran, his grandsons Connor and Gavin Moran,
brothers Tom, Chuck, Mike and Pat Moran and his sister Terry Moran Bauder, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 5th at Noon at the Joseph S. Blazosky Funeral Home, 81 E Catawissa St., Nesquehoning Pa, with Pastor Marjorie Keiter officiating.
